Improve your English in 2025, one week at a time
Was one of your New Year resolutions to finally start working on your English?
We all know what often happens with New Year resolutions… so here’s something I’ve created to help you keep this one: a 2025 calendar packed full of short, fun and motivating tasks to keep your learning on track.
Start small
If you’ve read anything on how to develop new habits, you probably already know this: it’s best to start with something small and easy to achieve. Signing up for lessons, studying for a language exam or reading a book in English are great goals, but they can feel overwhelming and demotivating, especially if it’s been a while since you last did anything with your English.
So, why not start with a small task to complete each week?
In this 2025 calendar, you get one task to complete for every week of 2025. Most of them won’t take more than ten minutes. Others take a little longer… but I took extra care to make sure they’re enjoyable, and easy to work into your day.
Keep going
Staying consistent is key to learning. That’s why in the calendar, there’s a new task for you to do every week. And if life gets in the way and you skip a week, you can always go back and catch up!
Use it as you like
Download the PDF, then print it out and pin it on your fridge… or save it on your computer, phone or tablet. Use it for language learning only, or make use of the extra pages to take notes on birthdays, anniversaries and doctor’s appointments.
Interactive materials
Many tasks include links to short interactive language games you can play on your computer, tablet or phone. I have also included QR codes that you can scan with your device for easy access.
Interesting texts and quizzes
Some tasks include links to short texts and quizzes on the BBC and Cambridge websites. These will help you improve your vocabulary and reading skills.
Find English around you
Some weeks, I will encourage you to look around you: at the room you’re in, at the day you’re having, at your life plans… and use English to talk or write about it.
I will also give you hints on how to find more opportunities to practise English in a way that feels natural, motivating and (hopefully!) fun.
Reflect on your learning
I hope the calendar will give you lots of ideas and ready-made tasks to work through… but I also want you to feel motivated to take control of your learning and set your own goals.
Each page of the calendar includes room for you to take additional notes, and several tasks over the course of the year will encourage you to reflect on what you have learnt, and what you’d like to work on next.
Extra vocabulary worksheets
The 2025 calendar also comes with three vocabulary worksheets packed with new words and phrases, exercises to practise with, and tips on how to learn vocabulary better. Your calendar will tell you when to work on them—although there’s no stopping you having an early look!
Completely free
The calendar is completely free to download and use: all you have to do is type in your email address so I can send it to your inbox.
When you’ve received your calendar, I will automatically add your email to my newsletter list: you’ll be the first to know of any new materials I share and classes I run. And if you decide you’d rather not receive my emails, or if they start annoying you, don’t worry: you can easily unsubscribe by clicking the button included at the bottom of each email.
